On gardeners world last night they said to boil a garlic bulb let the water cool and pour over the hosta and this would keep slugs away. Has anyone tried this

The only thing I have found that work on hostas is copper rings, when the slugs slither onto them, it gives them an electric shock.

I use garlic rinse on my hostas, it is superb - it keeps slugs and snails away and the hosta foliage is fabulous.
