My pyracantha tree has suddenly gone black and the berries are dead and black, whats happened to it please.

Well its dead, by the sound of it. Can't say why without more info - was it infested? Had a fungal disease? Leaf Spot? Is it in a pot and do you live somewhere that was in drought this summer? Was it brown before it went black? Did it look as if it had been burnt?
