Figs are mildly hungry in tubs, especially in polytunnels, so if you haven't fed it all summer, it may be shutting down early for the fall. Too late to feed it now--I would wait until it sprouts in spring. The same thing can happen if it was badly drought stressed this year. I would put on a slow acting organic food 2-3 times next summer.
