Who owns GoY? Back in the days that I first joi ed we had Peter and Ajay. Neither of them were really keen gardeners, but we knew who they were, they kept a profile, and we could rely on them to update the website and keep it running well. Nowadays the site seems to be falling i to ‘disrepair’ and some of the facilities don’t seem to work any more. Does anybody know anything about the site owners now? Would be great if they could introduce themselves to us and explain their level of interest. I’d hate to lose GoY, its a great facility for blogging, cataloguing and making new gardening friends. Is there anybody out there?

Thanks Grandad! Gosh..well that’s good news in a way. If it’s making money perhaps it will survive. I just wish the person would be a bit more active and pay more attention to maintaining the site, updating it, and communicating with all the lovely people on here!

Ajay and Peter were the founders, but they don't seem to be around now. Dave (Shedman I think his GoY name is) seems to be the one to contact if you have a query. Sometimes he can sort it out and sometimes he has to ask someone else but I don't know who that is.
I believe Dave is Peter's father.
I became a bit worried when I read on http://www.whoismark.org/growsonyou.com
that the expiry date for GoY is 28 11 2020 !
Does that mean the end I wonder ? I would like to know ...

I didn’t spot that Hywel. I really hope it won’t be the end. That would be so sad!

Hi Karen, I would imagine that if it brings in $1000 a month, for doing nothing, they will probably renew, Derek.

I agree Karen. I have written to Dave for clarification. Maybe he can explain.

Thanks Hywel. Good idea, and thank you for doing this for all of us.

You're welcome, and I'll let you know the result when I hear back from Dave. Sometimes he takes a while to reply.

Thanks, really good work! Never occurred to me that GoY might stop working...

Gosh! That would be awful. I have documented my whole garden on this site. Every flower, shrub and tree.
What would we do if we didn't have each other to chat to and sort out our gardening problems.

Would be nice to see this site continue & grow in membership.

The 2020 date is just domain renewal, which is separate from actual site. Normally this is set to auto renew with advance warning of money being taken, like a magazine subscription for instance
As per Derekm, $1000+ a month for sitting back gives over 1000 reason to renew

That is good.

I heard from Dave, he checked with someone and said the same as Grandad gardener above:-
"The expiry date refers only to the site domain name, which has to be paid for, and has to be renewed on that date. No need to worry."

Next question
The true owner[s] of the domain are hiding under privacy rules, registered via GoDaddy with it's server in Texas and it seems providing a steady income of over $1000 a month for whoever own it
