Watsonia bulbillifera.

I bought an unnamed Watsonia last summer. it has produced bulbils on the stem so it is W bulbilifera according to the RHS.
my question is how deep do you need to plant the bulbils? I am tempted to plant twice their height but I guess they drop of and root at the surface in the wild.
advice please.
thanks

I would just push them into the top of the compost. As they start into growth the new roots will pull the bulbils down a little.

I did wonder if they had contractile roots. that is going to be the plan then. Thanks Bulba.

Happy New Year to you and MG. Hope all well in your part of the World. :o)

I don't know that they are actually contractile roots Sbg, but most bulbs manage to find their own depth eventually. Anyway, you would probably be repotting as they grow larger.
