how do I stop caterpillars eating my cabbages? (organicly)

You must have had the white butterflies in beforehand, cause they lay their eggs on the cabbages. You just have to catch the catterpillars, but perhaps they don't like salt either. They probably hate a garlic spray too. If it was me, I would catch them and squeeze them in between my fingers.

Thanks, we had to destroy our cabbges, they were just eaten to death, we found loads of yellow eggs which we squashed, but the plants were riddled with caterpilars, will know next time, catch the blighters in mid flight.

best to cover plants with a fine mesh that cabbage whites cannot get through.
