I lost mine to honey fungus many years ago. the toadstool is a sign that all is not well. scrape some bark back is there a white thread like layer that smells of mushrooms? if yes then it has honey fungus. the toadstools appear around September/October usually.
as Bathgate says a photo would be good.

If you want the tree gone, then have it removed. I'm not sure what's going on with it, but a photo would surely help.
