What is the earliest time one can transplant wild daisy cuttings in North Ireland

Daisy

Digging up any kind of wild plant is illegal.
Just wait for the birds to bring the seeds.

My wife did not dig up the wild daisies
She took a few cuttings and stuck them in the ground. They took off like mad.
No illegal action was enacted.

By 'wild daisies' Barrie, do you mean the small plants with white flowers and yellow centres that grow in lawns, or is it a name for something completly different. I ask because I would not have thought it possible to propagate them from cuttings.

No They're not like the lawn daisies. They have a larger white head, a yellow centre with green bushy foliage. They do grow and spread extremely quickly from a simple cutting and will flower all through the summer if dead-headed.
Apologies for my horticultural ignorance.

How tall are they Barrie? Perhaps you mean ox eye daisies?

I will photograph tomorrow and try and send if such a facility exists on this system

Go back to where you asked the question and click the Update Question box. You will see an "add photo" box - just click it and follow the instructions.

You can now see a photo of the daisy attached to my initial question. There are not too many flowers on it yet but by May it will be covered. This particular clump has grown from 2 or 3 small cuttings planted last year.

It looks like Anthemis cupaniana, or sicilian camomile - link below to RHS page. Propagate by division or seed, can be done now.

that must be the longest link I've ever seen...

Yes, could well be one of the Anthemis genus, actually an aster rather than a daisy and would take from cuttings if your good enough. Well done to your wife, Barrie. Oh, the problems caused by common names!

If its a plant that makes you happy Barrie, good luck to it.
