dying flowers

Asked on 4 Aug, 2008

A lot of my asters and bizzy lizzy impatients are withering up and dying. Although the adjacent plant is healthy. The bizzy lizzy's have went from full bloom to just a brittle stem. The asters have grown to full size then withered before flowering? The soil is standard soil and i've had flowers growing there for the past 4 years with no problems.

Are they not supposed to wilt down when autumn is on the doorstep?

And Marquerite, no they aren't supposed to wilt (hence my question)

Have you had a lot of wind? Some of my Impatiens are in the windy area and have really suffered. The others have not grown as they should - they are mostly stunted and haven't many flowers, or shrivelled and still fewer flowers!. Too much rain, not enough sun. Also check for 'nasties' in the soil i.e. vine weevils if only some of the plants are not thriving.
