I am a very novice gardener, but this year I am expanding my gardening skills from vegetables to flowers. I have been growing a number from seed and have had better than expected success, but this plant is confusing me. (please see picture) This was meant to be a carnation. Now I may be new at this but I rather sure this isn't a carnation, it doesn't look like any of my other seedlings any way. any idea what this is? or am I just tenderly nurturing a weed?

Rub the leaves to see if it has a scent ... looks like a Mint of some sort to me.

Well it certainly isn't a carnation. Probably a weed seed that got into the pot and is growing. I would simply put in the compost.
