I have one too (see my pictures).
If the outer leaves are dead/green thats not too much of a problem (they wont come back though) but If the centre is ok, (not rotten or dead) and has new green fronds coming up - it is still alive and should be ok. You have to look at the centre.
Mine looked dead, leaves all brown and crispy(!) and the middle seemed to pull out, but there does seem to be a little green there... I am giving it the summer to see if anything happens before I pull it up, as it was my pride and joy!
