Onion Fly!

Asked on 9 May, 2007

My onion patch has been visited by the onion fly and is now
infested with the larvae. I have been told to try Pirimiphos-Methyl
or two older remedies Trichlorphon and Calomel Dust (these may not be available anymore). Has anyone come across these chemicals and /or does anyone know of any other treatment.

I don't know about the chemicals, but next year if you plant your onions in between rows of carrots it seems that each plant puts off the other plants pests!
