my torbay palm as been cut down because of frost damage but i have noticed about 7 shoots growing from the base how can i get these shoots to replant them and grow in pots

You can try, with a very, very sharp knife, cutting downwards on a couple of shoots, but you need to get some root with them, or they'll just die. Have a bit of a gentle dig around to see if its possible to get roots on any of them first. Otherwise, just let them grow as they are.

i read just now that that is what happens so you'll get a cluster of plants rather than one
