i'm looking for a climber i nearly bought at a nursery, now regretting i didn't!.. it had deep green waxy leaves with deep red flowers, can't remember the name but it was love at 1st sight!....any ideas?

Rule out the Tropaeolum - its leaves aren't waxy. I wouldn't call the Akebia's leaves waxy, either??

Climbers that spring to mind from your description are akebia, berberidopsis, campsis, schisandra or tropaeolum speciosum. Try Goggle to find a picture of each of them. Was it one of those?
