I have spotted a maybug on the grass today but i understand you cannot use chafer grub killer until August at the earliest. What can i do now to halt it's progress?

Nothing except to kill any adult ones flying about. They eat a bit off plants, but don't cause major damage, its their grubs in the lawn that do.
