We are having to mmove house for the second time in 6 months. I have 10 clematis in the garden which I want to move.

I had thought of cutting the down and potting them into 10" pot and then leaving them unitl the autumn before planting them out again, woould this adversely affect them?

Would it be possible to come to an arrangement with your buyer to move them in the autumn?

Unfortunately that will not be possible, the house is rented and due for demolition.

You can only try, Csarina. I hope it works.

if the house is to be demolished no doubt they would be destroyed if left so you might as well do it,as Spritz says.
I would leave some growth on them though.

Best of luck with them anyway.

I intend to cut them down to about 2ft tall to see if they will bush out at the bottom and therefore have stronger growth. I am not going to plant them out unitl the autumn or possibly next spring.

That sounds like a good idea, Csarina.
