We have a 15 year old walnut tree grown from a single nut. The tree is thriving and even had nuts last year. However, it does not leaf out until mid June, in fact it is still bare now, save for a few shoots. Why is this and what can we do about it?

I wouldn't worry as it's normal for walnut trees to grow their leaves late. The leaves typically grow in mid spring, but depending on the weather this could be a little later.
I'm sure that it will produce nuts this year because you said that your tree has produced nuts last year. Give it some time and I'm sure it will be ok.
Please let me know how it does.
