How can I propagate Ajuga? This is a rather nice one I have recently acquired called 'Black Scallop', and would like to multiply and increase it.

Ah, so it will just creep, as long as it is happy. Will some of it do alright in pure (unimproved) clay?

Yes, it'll be okay, but it doesn't like to suffer drought.

It roots as it goes ,where it touches, so layering's really easy. Or just wait till it spread and then dig up rooted sections.
