i am new to looking after a phormium tenax. in winter do i cut it back or leave it. 2 of my 3 seem to have seem to have lost it's foliage. fran

When the leaves are really brown you can pull them away from the base of the clump. Don't cut it back as this will look awful and isn't necessary. If the ones that lost their foliage were fairly newly planted, the winter weather may have killed them off.
