Is it possible to have a container garden with a layered look? I have difficulty with my knees so I can't kneel to plant a layered garden in the ground. Any suggestions or picture examples with a container garden with a layered-look? Thanks!

Easy peasy, as Sid says, using large containers at the back, medium ones in front and smaller ones in front of that, and choosing plants carefully not just for their flowers or shapes, but also for their eventual height and spread. Obviously, larger, taller plants at the back, etc.

you can also get plant stands, kind of like half a ladder or two or three stairs if u know what i mean, if I find one on the shopping bit of the site I'll let u know.
Sometimes these are designed to go in a corner.

I know you're in the States, but this should give you an idea?

I had a container garden with many layers and well over 100 pots some years ago. I achieved the layered effect by looking out for wooden pallets on building sites and smiling sweetly at the builders when asking if I could have one or two. I collected a good many and you can then stack them to whatever height you please and vary the configuration when you get bored with it.
It's also a good way to save on expensive pots because the ones behind can usually not be seen. I used to buy very cheap black buckets or big black pots and plant them towards the back or in the middle.
The posh pots were saved for the visible front areas....
Sadly my photos are in the UK and I am in the Czech Republic at the moment so can't post any on here.
If you have knee problems then you may have to find a friendly person to pick up the pallets for you - I was lucky to be driving an estate car at that time.

Thanks Cestina. This really helps. I especially like your recommendation regarding using buckets and black pots. Now to search for the pallets!! ( - :

Yes, Terratoonie I have. But, I did a bit more looking after your response. I have some good ideas for next spring. Think I'm going to try to stock up on pots and other containers. Thanks again for your suggestions.

Don't see why not - with big tubs at the back and small ones at the front. You will need to consider whether you can easily reach them all for watering. I think the best container gardens are the ones that have a nice varied selection of interesting containers.
