Are there any gardening tools available specifically for the disabled? I'd like to buy something useful for my wheelchair bound sister for her Birthday.

wolfe do a range of handle lengths for the interchangeable heads. this was usuful for a friend who has raised beds. conventional trowels etc were too short. Is that what you are after?

lovely thoughtful gift .

'Thrive' has a large section on how to 'Carry on gardening' specifically aimed at the disabled and is full of useful information.
A company called E-Lap do aids for the disabled and this includes a section for gardeners

This is my first ever question on Goy, so thanks to you all for replying. My sister has moved to a new house and has had a good sized raised bed built for her use. So at the moment I'm looking for anything that will make life easier for her. I will check out all your suggestions - Thanks

After looking into all of your suggestions I found some very good and reasonably priced long handled tools - My sister's Birthday is next week, so I won't know until then if I've come up trumps with this idea! I really hope so - my thanks again goes out to you all for pointing me in the right direction!

Thanks all for the Birthday wishes I will pass them on and tell Anne about GoY, and what a great bunch of people you all have been helping me with her gift!!
Pimpernel - that would be a great idea about signing her up for GoY, but sadly she has MS which also affects her vision, so she's unable to use a computer now. But not to worry as she has me!!
