my fig tree is in a large pot about 18 inches high and same around and the tree is 6 foot tall,the branches have leaves at the end but none on the lower parts??is there a way to encourage leaf growth

What kind of fig, arthur...? Are we talking Ficus carica (fruiting fig) outside, or a houseplant type Fig?

dont quote me as this idea i have i havnt used on figs and you havnt got a picture to see what your fig looks like either . with a lot of plants that are a bit leggy you pinch out the growing tips and this forces the plant to produce new shoots further down the branches making the plant bushier with more leaves .im sure you will get better answers later on from people who know more about figs than me . take care bye for now .
