Why has my 2 year old yellow/white Lantana gone straight to seeds without producing umbels of flowers?

Sorry gardeners! I'm very silly and didn't look deeper into my pot of Lantana. I prodded about amongst the leaves and realised there were two plants there - the one with seeds being a weed! Weed now removed and Lantana has a couple of flower bud heads and will probably have more now that the "cuckoo" has been removed and given it more light. Ooops!
