What is this?

Asked on 1 Jul, 2008

We bought this from a garden centre and lost the care label from the pot. We now have no idea what it is or how to look after it. Can someone enlighten us. Many thanks

It looks a bit like a Dianthus with no flowers! - or maybe a grass of some kind. Not at all sure. Not helpful - sorry.

It looks like a plant i just bought, Chilean Crimson Bromeliad! Are the edges of the leaves spiky?

Yes the leaves are spiky and quite hard. I didn't realise it had such an exotic name. Thanks

It gets flowers too, and the leaves turn Scarlet as flowering time approaches, the flowers are a mix of blue yellow and pale pink...
