That's not what my book says, alibongo! It says inter-nodal or leaf-bud cuttings, taken in summer, or use hardwood cuttings taken in mid autumn to early spring. Unless it's Camellia reticulata, which can be layered.

My very old, very useful book says to take 3"- 4" long half-ripe lateral shoots from June to August and root in 50% each peat and sand at a bottom heat of 13-16 C. It also agrees with Bamboo about the reticulata and says the leaf-bud cuttings are useful for large numbers or plants.

How do I say thanks?
