Chestnuts roasting on an open fire .........
Actually they're not because the wind is howling down the chimney like a banshee and the rain is coming down outside in bucketloads. Haven't finished getting all done for Christmas but it will get done. Merry Christmas everyone, Happy New Year and happy gardening.

It's pouring down here too, and the wind is rather gusty on times.

My chestnuts were in a saucepan on top of the cooker last night, sort of roasting. Hardly Christmassy this weather, is it, and yesterday was very noisy with everything rattling and shrieking in the gale and the rain lashing, right up till 4 am this morning, didn't get a wink before then. Sounded remarkably like something trying to break in through every exterior door and window, and it wasn't Santa... Merry Christmas all.

Monday before Christmas was wild and wet, especially as it went dark. the barometer dropped fast and some shutters over a front garden project threatened to take off. I staggered around with bricks, buckets and crazy paving and a bag of brickbats. Horizontal rain and howling gale. Phew, it has all stayed in place. I thought I would ache the next day. In my late seventies and female too, but no aches. It blew again last night but everything is still in place.
