Amaryllis query

Asked on 13 Jun, 2008

My Amaryllis flowered last December but after the flowers faded, the leaves have remained green ever since. Should I cut them off or leave them to die naturally.

Hi Peggie
Your amaryllis is a lovely colour. The leaves are making food to renew the bulb for another year. If you cut them off then it may not flower again. I'm not sure how good they are from year to year - somebody out there will know!

Keep feeding and watering it until the leaves die back naturally, then give it a rest. In the autumn, you repot it in fresh compost and off it goes again!
