Is there an annual Campanula species?

Yes, although they are annual, biennial and perennial (about 300 species) I would say a lot of Campanulas are annuals C attica and C meteora C isophylla are some. My favourite is Canterbury bells which is a hardy biennial which I treat as an annual.
