It takes its name from their bell-shaped flowers (Campanula is Latin for little bell). The species include annual, biennial and perennial plants, and vary in habit from dwarf arctic and alpine species under 5 cm high, to large temperate grassland and woodland species growing to 2 m tall.

Yes Chris...We still do... I planted them in my Moms garden ages ago...but this is the first year I have come to truly appreciate their many faces, a cousin gave me the korean bellflower and the blue bellflower...I love them...the kb started blooming in late May and is still in flower!! nice to see all your pics Mcmneil...

They are actually a deeper purple than this , but they come up just when other things are finishing so it is a good balance.

Another plant for my list...This looks similar to a blue that I have..but the petioles are longer..and the flowers have a pronounced droop...don't have the latin unfortunately...it was a gift.

does it have thorns? I've had berberis before and was even so brave as to move the plants from an established location...as I recall the spine tips break off and leave little 'slivers' under the skin...It's a good deterrent in traffic areas...

yes me too Mcmneil, this is just such a soft colour i had to have it - do you reconise it - it was'nt labled and i'm not sure how hardy it is.
