I wouldn't call it a container plant anyway... Grow it up a tree, evergreen shrub or a trellis.

I personally wouldn't try to grow any clematis in a pot - they like cool roots.

Exactly, Mg!! Breeders are recommending some small species for large containers, though. But not this one!
