Rockery perennials

My friend has some lovely perennials in a rockery, differnt coloured aubretia etc, but they are flowering now. Are cuttings doomed to fail if the plant already has flowers on it or is there a chance od them taking?

Well, you might find a piece with roots that would grow on in a pot, but I am a bit doubtful. It's worth a try, though - you have nothing to lose!
