i have been trying to grow winter pansies in my greenhouse, when i looked the other day they were all dying, on closer inspection all the roots were gone, and when looking at the compost there are little white grub things in there , what are they ? and how can i get rid of them ?

I hear that peat in the compost attracts the little critters - I have since potted everything up with peat free compost (which also saves the peat bogs).

They seem to be Vine Weevils. Very difficult to get rid of. They love to invade pots. It is best if you go on to a Vine Weevil page to see pictures of the beetle and ways of getting rid of them.
