Strange pop ups

No, its not just you, I got the same thing today, when I was sending a message to Madperth - the pop ups are sometimes related to the page content, (I recall one pop up being for roof trusses when the question on the page was about trusses on tomatoes) so I wasn't sure if it was something the computer recognised in the name Madperth as meaning something else....

Need to put you pop up blocker on. Its allows you to view any popups from the site your on but also blocks outside things...

There shouldn't be any popup advertising on Grows on You. Please can you send me the name of the advertiser via the "contact us" link at the bottom of the page if you see a popup advert so I can investigate.

Along with Nickyt08's suggestion can I also suggest checking to make sure you don't have any adware on your computer.

PS. if you are referring to the adverts on the right of the page (and not a popup) and you spot an inappropriate one please do let me know the name of the advertiser so I can block them. Thank you.

It wasn't a pop up really Nicky, it was the ad on the right hand side of the page

thanks people, ive checked my popup blocker and its on but havnt the foggiest what adware is Ajay but as the pop up thingy is on I assume that its an ad... will contact you if it turns up again, although some of our gentlemen Goyers may be a bit disappointed if its removed! LOL

Adware is a form of spyware that collects information about the user in order to display advertisements in the Web browser based on the information it
collects based on the users browsing patterns .Mageth.....I use Lavasofts Ad-Aware to scan for these tracking cookies it also finds trojans so a useful tool. Its a free download here.

I've seen this 'well endowed lady' on another members page but the ads on my page always seem to be about debt advise........... Is someone trying to tell me something? Lol

Thanks Goldie, I recognise the term cookie, but its a mystery why this ad should appear knowing whos using the computer in our house! I would expect ads related to a)fashion-(because of my oldest) or b) chickens-hubby. I expect its got something to do with computer games as my youngest always seems to be looking for new stuff, maybe I need to upgrade the parental controls! lol. Ian- I also see a lot of ads for sofas for some reason,
as if I have time to laze about! Gilli- she appears in the side bar ads-blond and buxom to be precise-it caught my eye because it was so out of place for the site. Seriously though, I get very annoyed with these infringements into my life but that seems to be the price we have to pay for technology these days.

Oh they do Nicky, or at least I think they do. Advertising is what allows GoY to be totally free and still sooooo brill. As with all things in todays world, someone has to pay :~))

I take it you're referring to Jim Fixx? (yes i'm old enough to remember...) I think his problem was really that he'd led a fairly dissolute life before deciding to get fit in his thirties, drink, drugs, no sleep, too much junk food, etc, so probably the damage was already done. Poor bloke, how furious would you be if you'd given up anything fun to get fitter and then kicked the bucket - I'd be livid!

Well I did stop drinking, was giving up smoking and had lost 2 stone in weight just in time to have a stroke! ! ! and no that's not a joke............

Oh lord, sorry Ian. We are all the architects of our own destruction, by and large, aren't we - I still smoke and am hugely reluctant to give it up ...

I'm down to roughly 2 - 5 a day but it's so difficult after all these years. I look at my stroke as a warning and worry what might have happened had I not stopped drinking and lost so much weight?
I haven't had one yet today (at 12:50 pm) but I must admit I was going to finish this comment and go and join Carol and Holly outside for a one. Now I will go outside and just enjoy the lovely sunshine and try my best not to give in. :~))

Help.....all I would like is a fridge magnet and a keyring.......HEELLLLPPPP............
