we have a large bank 100ft long x20ft tall in our garden in south of france ..would love to cover it in flower ..dry in summer ..cold in winter ..would gazania rigens be the best to use ? alternative sugestions please ..thanks regards ..m layton

No, I don't think so - it is tender, and despite your hotter summers there, I believe you also get colder winters than is typical in the south in Britain. Think I'd use Helianthemums, Potentilla nitida, Silene Flore Pleno, Oreganum aureum (yellow leaved oregano), Iberis sempervivens, Saponaria ocymoides, probably done in repeated block planting, - that way you'll have flower and colour from spring through to autumn.
