clematis leaves with blisters

clematis that was newly planted April this year in a large tub in semi shade has brown blisters on many of the leaves and also brown spots. Any ideas please.

Certain forms of rust on plants can cause pustules - any chance of a photo of an affected leaf? Are the blisters on both sides of the leaf or just on the top, and are there any insects under the leaf? Is it possible you've splashed water on the leaves in bright sunlight?
