Jasmine cuttings

Im sure its a jasmine, down the road an over grown garden has ahuge area covered in various things and the scent can be smelt up the road.If i take a cutting whats the best way to do it and what sort of ground should it be in (cant see their soil its too over grown

My book says propagate from semi-ripe cuttings now or hard wood cuttings in the autumn. I've tried both and was more successful with hardwood cuttings. (semi-ripe didn't work for me at all, lol - whenever it mentions mist unit I assume it's more difficult)
