Windmill palm 17 6 2010

Windmill palm 17 6 2010 (Trachycarpus fortunei (Chusan palm))

This in my daughters garden just south of Bristol. In spite of the hard winter it survived and it has flowered. You can see if you look closely at the centre of the plant there are a number of things that look like sweet corn sheaves. They burst open to reveal huge mounds of flowers which looked like rhubarb flowers only 5 x the size. I took some photos of them but i cannot find them. I also got a fantastic shot of her cordyline which had a huge tower of flowers sitting like a floral arrangement on top of the leaves.
