The plant is deep purple - not blue; that's my camera's fault.

It was from the plant fair, Meanie, but my S. 'Caradonna' are almost there. This one is an amazing colour. I hope I can find more of them!

More Salvia, or more purple Salvia?

This particular one, Meanie! Apparently, it's a new cultivar from Germany.

Ah, I see.
I find layering to be another useful way of propagating hardy Salvia. Not sure if if will be useful for this, it works best on fast growers that make woody stems, but it allows the new plant to remain outdoors over the winter rather than needing protection as stem cuttings do.
I did several S.glutinosa and a cultivar called Blue Spires last year.

That might work on the shrubby ones I have - thanks.
