Dierama from 2014 (Dierama pulcherrimum (Angel's fishing rod))

This Dierama had reddish flowers, is now totally congested and only has brown leaves. It is the parent of the previous. Has anyone successful divided? They hate root disturbance. I have lost in the past trying to do so. Help!

I have now a wand of flowers developing on this clump, will keep the seeds if they develop. 2014 it was a rich red, the seedling flowers from 3 years ago,a mauve flower.
