Yellow bamboo..repotting?

My bamboo is potbound. Having cut away the old, original centre canes it is only growing new canes around the outside of the pot. Am I right to repot and cut away the original growth and root system..just repotting the newer canes each with its own roots?

My RHS book says ' Divide in spring' - so you should maybe wait until then to split it. It also says to feed it monthly.with a balanced liquid fertiliser. Hope this helps.

Provide a wonderful backdrop for other plants. Luscious and evergreen.Bamboos provide movement and texture as well as adding an exotic touch to the garden.
