Thanx, the black things sticking up are just some pegs I put in the ground, it's to stop the fleece touching the lettuce leaves :-) I've grown these undercover right from the start, fleece works really well and stops flys gettin on them. I put quite a lot of slug pellets down thou cos you still get the occasional slug fighting his way throu to munch but it's kept them off very well.

Wow, mine fell prey to snails/slugs, it's been so wet. My fault because I won't use slug pellets, in case birds eat the poisoned slugs. I will let the ducks out to feast on the little varmints when cropping is over

Producing a solid butterhead lettuce, with deliciously soft leaves if is perfect for small gardens with restricted space. Tom Thumb is known as the smallest lettuce.

What are the sticky up black things - do they stop cats or slugs! Your lettuces look great not much eaten from them
