This variety of fern has been planted in hollow tree stumps in the woodland garden.
Crested one of these, planted Oct 07 in front garden, NE corner.
Planted Feb 08 in w patio border. Evergreeen shuttlecock-lioke cornws of bright glossy green, often waved fronds, heart-shaped at base. H:45-70 cm. S: 60 cm
Front garden ne corner under magnolia. Planted oct 07. Evergreen, thick leathery starp like fronds, crested at the ends. Most soils. shade. H: 40cm, S: 40 cm.
Remove old fronds in spring after last frosts to allow new growth to uncurl. protect in sever weather by mulching crown. Refresh & humidify in hot dry spells with a fine spray of water.
