Hi Sandra - yes it is hardy. I love this plant - the foliage is grasslike and grey-green. It likes full sun and is drought tolerant. When the flowers go over, they are replaced by the most beautiful seed pods, which I can only describe as looking like translucent green marbles. It is easy to grow from seed.

I have seen this growing wild in Crete. Seeing plants in their native habitat gives you a good idea of the conditions they need in our gardens

Thanks, Mike. It is a concrete one and has weathered very nicely. It has a little trailing rose in it and the pink you can see are clove-scented pinks. There are also Anemone blanda in there to give colour in early spring.

An usual looking perennial with grassy foliage, pretty star-shaped yellow flowers and (best of all I think) the seed pods are perfect spheres and are transluscent and shiney green - just like green marbles.
