Teasel Plant

I want to get plenty going so that the gold finches can feast later in the year :-)

That's what I'm hoping for. There are lot's of finches around these parts. in the farm fields near us etc but I don't see them in my garden!
Yes they do take a lot of space. I needed to stake them up (loosley) the other week because as they are so tall, they were blowing around a lot and I was wotrried they were going to break!

BonkersBon assured me that if I had niger seeds in my garden the gold finches would arrive. I have alder trees which they feed on in the autumn winter though. Anyway, Jacque sorted me out with a niger feeder and I got some seed and within hours they were on them, lovely little birds. The niger seed is quite expensive though so I would like the teasels to do well.

I've been putting out Niger seed for 5 years or more but only sparrows and occassionaly the odd blue tit!

That will be very good.Send them with some sandwiches and a flask for the journey, won't you. Did you find the winter picture of the Teasel plants?

I'll have a word with them and tell them there's lots of niger seed down south. I'm going back to your blog to look for the teasel. Thanks
