Clematis alpina "Willy"

This is a lovely early-flowering variety, and, with this name, a "must-have" for us.

Oh good one!!! now you need a plant called Wonka LOL

Hahha, folks!

Well, of course, "Willy" is now in our choccy garden - goes without saying! As for "Wonka" - well, of course, nothing exists. BUT - have used a bit of Roald Dahl poetic licence here, and am cultivating tubers of Dahlia "Honka". Dahlia, of course, contains the name "Dahl" (although named after another Scandinavian (planthunter,), and. am sure, that Roald Dahl wouldn't have been averse to our "Honka" rythming with "Wonka" - heehee!! :-)

Very clever!! :o) how did you find that do you Google things?

Hi Sewingkilla! I found this dahlia in a Spaldings catalogue belonging to my Dad. He bought me these, Lily "Cappucino" and some other plants as a present. :-)

PS. I also "Google" for hours on end, using various connotations, to find plants with names linking to a theme. Have also found a large number here on GOY, either by suggestions given by members, using the "search" box" or by looking at pics (where I found the above Clematis "Willy". My next stiop is usually the "Garden Centre" here on GOY, to buy the plants, if available, without having to leave this fab site for more than a few minutes, lol! :-)

This is growing very well, Majeeka, and (according to its growing instructions) may well flower again later in the season. It looked like a dead clump of twigs when I got it. Glad to see that you got the connection, btw! :-)

lol - i think it must be the same for this type David, mine was like dead twigs when i got it and apprently flowers twice, it has just finished flowering and has loads of new little shoots everywhere, i was a little concerned at first - but not any more.
