Ctenanthe compressa - Bamburanta

Ctenanthe compressa - Bamburanta (- Bamburanta)

This tropical plant is widely used in shady spots. It is all over the SDSU campus as a ground cover even though it can grow to as tall as 4 feet. It spreads by rhizomes. It is very easy to grow as long as it receives water.

I believe they have small purple or blue flowers...I grew this plant for years in a large planter at my house in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Did you discover how much of a team of gardeners is needed to manage the trees, lawns, etc.

I would think it takes quite a large team of gardeners. The SDSU Campus is large and growing. They do have sprinkler systems in every part of the campus where there's many plants...this is a must if the plants are to survive.
