Mammillaria heliosa

Mammillaria heliosa

It's only about an inch tall although it looks bigger in the photo.
The flower colour doesn't come out well with the digital camera :(
And before any cactus-hating bods mention the 'vicious looking' spines - they are soft and I could pick it up with my hand when I repotted it ... so I will ignore any negative comments :)

Pretty flowers, Hywel. I watched the Beechgrove Garden on BBC 2 this week. There was a chap in Edinburgh showing his huge collection in his large glasshouse.
He had cacti and succulents. He did a demo on taking cuttings from some plants too.

Thank you both,
I was told about the Beechgrove garden and I'm going to watch it on the iplayer.

I have to agree, Julia. I feel I can connect a bit more to the gardens they show, and the advice seems to resonate more.

Yes I enjoyed it, I've never seen it before - it isn't on the tv at a convenient time for me, but I'll try to watch it on the iplayer now.

That’s good, Hywel. I’ve watched it since the late 70s, when I was a child. My grandfather loved to watch it and if my sister and I had a sleepover, we watched it with him on a Friday evening.

Lovely Cactus, Hywel!

It’s very pretty. I like watching Beechgrove too.

I don't think I've ever seen Beechgrove or at least not more than once. But then I've practically not watched a TV programme, on the TV, in at least 3 years! I sometimes watch a few GW programmes or some of David Attenborough's documentaries but that's about as far as I go on seeing TV programmes - oh, I mustn't forget I watch the FI races on Channel 4 but on the computer, not on the TV. Our TV is so old now the cables have been lost & I couldn't get it to work any more even if I wanted to!

You haven't missed much Balcony, it's mostly rubbish. That's why I hardly ever switch it on. Sometimes I watch a program on the iplayer on my laptop - things like something archaeological or local/family history related.

Thanks for everyone's comments.

Lovely cactus flowers Hywel. A lot of what you see on the t.v. now are repeats. We don't watch programmes about dating etc, but like to watch sporting events and David Attenborough presentations. Gerry likes the F1 racing.
