Seedlings: Canna brasiliensis (See Profile picture)

These little seedlings are on a heated tray cluttering up my kitchen worktop! I got a real surprise to see them pop up within a day or two. Last year I bought 6 seeds, lost one as it bounced off across the floor, and only had 1 plant resulting from my efforts.
All the seeds this year are from that one plant. I tried a new way of cultivating them this time with thanks to Youtube. Before chipping (they are extremely hard shelled) I put them in boiling water for a few seconds before soaking and later chipping (with much effort and risk to skin and nails) and this is the result.

I have to say - I'd be feeling pretty smug too!!! Well done! Sounds like you've found a pretty successful method, Ange.
Plus, the joy of seeing a rapid show of growth too!

Thank you both. I used to grow lots from seed in the past but mixed results more recently and lack of space has meant I rather lost interest. My g'house seems to be full of overwintering plants for half the year.

Wow! Huge congratulations! I love Cannas. I don’t think I will get away with them here though, it’s too windy up this hill!
