Semi wild border

Semi wild border

I committed to the blue campaign to rewild part of the garden, this is the result.

Thank you for pointing this campaign out. I shall look forward to reading about it in full. It's something we could all do to help native wildlife. I have areas of matrix planting which allows seeds to germinate at will and I act as a referee, clearing out where there is overcrowding. I am trying to be less 'controlling' but not end up with a weed-infested mess! Your wilder area is lovely.

Thanks Anjet. I like that description -"act as referee", it perfectly describes what I do! I seem to be drawn to this method of gardening anyway, just on the right side of chaos. Nature doesn't do "neat and tidy". I'll post more pics and maybe a blog or two about the community gardening I'm involved with.

This is the everyday struggle for me, Mike. My "garden" is mostly the wild things (in places). I do have my more "controlled" areas, but on the whole, I've tried to bring them all in. There is no "tidy" in the wild... but it does have it's own rhythm. My patch has gone from ferns and grasses to wildly spreading solidago and eupatorium. a bit of a riot... which will all lapse in a brown tangle by the time the snow flies.
I especially like the hydrangea, I have a number of them. wish mine were that lovely colour... and is that a Stargazer Lily? Don't they smell great?
Good Luck with your wild patch, that's a great incentive programme.
