Good winter colour, mine is planted so that the orange/red stems contrast with the purple black stems of a Cornus alba 'Kesselringii'

I have an Alberta Spruce/Pine (whatever) => that is planted in a grouping with a gold chamaecyparus and a columnar Arborvitae...it is a very formal planting and I want to remove them to another location...In their place I want something with winter interest...this looks like a possibility..but like everything else I have to ask how Hardy is it...should I look for other conifers or try the Cornus?

Go for the Cornus! it will give you more pleasure, being such a lovely colour on a dark day..

I have had a group of three Winter Beauty for several years, but after 4-5years they started to sucker and run interfering with other plants which is very unfortunate for such a beautiful shrub,.
